U-Immersive Learning Spaces

We are working on a project along with SES Broadband Services (a 100% owned subsidiary of SES, one of the world’s leading satellite providers) and Digitaria International SA (whose primary focus is on developing satellite networks and multimedia applications) that seeks to develop a new generation software/hardware platform that will enable an enhanced formal and informal learning experience by combing both the physical and digital presence regardless of location and device.  This project was funded by the European Space Agency with a €2 million matched funding budget.

In this project, SimVis have taken the lead on investigating both the pedagogic and usability aspects of digital technology use (on various types of devices) on school pupils’ formal and informal digital media learning experiences in order to develop a new digital education learning framework that integrates the technical, pedagogical and social aspects of learning to allow school students to engage in ubiquitous, flexible, non-linear learning. As part of the project, SimVis received a fully kitted out digital learning lab (interactive wall, interactive tables, handheld devices, satellite internet connection).
