On the Shoulders of Giants is a tabletop game with the purpose of increasing students’ knowledge and confidence for performing literature reviews.
It forms part of action research in the use of serious games within learning and teaching. In this particular case, the game has been modified (‘modded’) from an existing commercial game: Meeple Circus.
Publication is forthcoming for a research paper about rigorously modding tabletop games for education (and this game in particular). You can find the paper “Modding Tabletop Games for Education” at http://radar.gsa.ac.uk/6361/
The game itself will be freely available from this page to download and use with your own copy of Meeple Circus, as soon as evaluation and graphic design are complete.

For much more context about this research a research paper is forthcoming. However, here are three analyses of commercially-available tabletop games that were undertaken as part of the design process, followed by the gameplay loop analysis of the finished game itself.
